Frequently asked questions

If you can’t find what you’re looking for, reach out to us at support@web3ip.app

Is it free to create a License Agreement?

Yes! It is completely free to create a license agreement on web3IP.

What does "chain of custody" mean?

Chain of custody refers to the list of owners of something over time. For example, in the case of an NFT, chain of custody is the record of owners (blockchain addresses) that the NFT is assigned to at any given time.

Who wrote the templates used to create License Agreements on Web3IP?

Our founding team is comprised of lawyers. Our legal team drafted all of our template agreements together with the help of our partners, including law firms and nonprofit legal advocacy groups.

Can I create a license agreement if my collection has already been minted?

Yes. Just like "real world" property, like physical paintings, you can attach a license agreement to your digital property (like NFTs) after they have been initially created.

Should my lawyer review the license agreement I've made?

Yes, you definitely should. While we provide templates to help you get started with addressing common use cases in the web3 industry, you should have your attorney look it over before using it.
